Study on Bearing Capacity and Failure Mode of Multi-Layer-Encased Geosynthetic-Encased Stone Column under Dynamic and Static Loading

The “method of overlap” replaces traditional welding to solve the problem how geosynthetic-encased stone column is limited by frame during site construction, making construction simplified and economical, but its bearing mechanism not clear. Therefore, failure mode was studied through compression test multi-layer under dynamic static loading. research shows that encasement improves modulus lateral restraint column, which increases stress transfer rate reduces damage degree column. vertical ultimate capacity increase in columns loading significantly different, difference can be up 47.1%; corresponding number layers should selected according actual situation. influence between on location main radial strain ignored, weakened, reduced, reduced more uniform along height. one- two-layer geogrid-encased lower than When treating soft foundations, traffic loads considered, appropriately increased design value.
